The Pessimist’s Definition of “Politics”

“Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it whether it exists or not, diagnosing it incorrectly,” developing the wrong remedy for it, underestimating the costs of implementing that remedy, obfuscating the foreseeable negative effects of that remedy, “applying the wrong remedy” in the least effective manner, and successfully disclaiming responsibility for the poor result.
