Artur Davis’s Defection to Republican Party

15 Jun

Artur Davis, black politician, was a former co-chairman for Obama’s presidential campaign,  He was a Democratic U.S. Representative from Alabama from 2003 to 2011.  He has switched allegiance away from the Democratic Party.  In 2012 he became a visiting fellow at the Harvard University Institute of Politics.

On Davis switching from Democrat to Independent to Republican:

“. . . wearing a Democratic label no longer matches what I know about my country and its possibilities,” he said.

Mitt Romney declared Davis’s switch as evidence of “mounting opposition among Democrats to President Obama’s campaign message and tactics.”

Frankly, so do I.  Do you see a crack in the black solidarity vote?  [Stats I have seen show 95% of black Americans voting for Obama in 2008, and up to 90% supporting Democrats in previous presidential elections.]
